The library is currently located on Bohlmann Avenue in the home of late Charles and Emma Matula. In Mr. Matula’s last will and testament, he bequeathed his home to his sister, Emma, with the request that she give the home to the City of Schulenburg for a public library. In 1975, following the death of Emma, the home was presented to the City of Schulenburg and is the Schulenburg Public Library currently. Prior to the present location, the library was located in the Old City Hall.
The Stanzel Family Foundation has donated property just north of the Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum to construct the new Schulenburg Public Library.
The present location has 1,100 square feet of library space. The proposed plan has 8,000 square feet of library space.
